An article about Irish Witches by John Hurley http://tinyurl.com/4swnlk

A University of Ulster article "Troubled times for Ulster witches." http://news.ulster.ac.uk/releases/2005/1939.html

Marc Carlson's list show that the last Witchtrial in Ireland was held on 31st March 1711 ... here's a link about that trial  "Witchcraft in Carrickfergus, County Antrim" which was published in "The Dublin Penny Journal", Volume 1, Number 47, May 18, 1833
www.libraryireland.com/articles/CarrickfergusDPJ1-47/index.php

Joe Graham's "Rushlight" website contains the actual depositions of that last trial. http://outandabout.rushlightmagazine.com/Islandmagee.html

apparently the last witches trial to be held in ireland was that of a mary butters around 1839/40.    it was told to myself that it happened,   (apparently she was hung)  where my garage was built  at home on the carnmoney road.  i got this info from the previous owner

Hello kaz,

I've looked at two sites ... one said that Mary escaped trial and another said she was imprisoned in Carrickfergus goal. but following the assizes she was released by a proclamation http://www.freewebs.com/johnrooney1/carnmoneyhill.htm
