How accurate is the info you have provided?
Are you sure he died in Queensland and not another State?
Are you sure he died in 2007 and not another year?
Do you have a full date of birth for Barry James SMITH

Listing this death because the year of birth matches 1946 but the year of Death and State do not match what you have provided.

Barry James SMITH 8.2.1946 - 18.11.2012

Hi Thanks for your response - regret that this is a different person who often gets confused with my first cousin as they were both born in the same town in the UK!  I believe this person actally emigrated to Australia in the 1970's - though that date might be incorrect!
The confirmed date of birth of my cousin is 24th September 1946.  He never emigrated but visited friends in Queensland on a regular basis. His death and cremation is reported as being in Queensland in 2007.  Evidently it was a 'sudden' death and not expected as he had just previously bought a boat in Norway.
Any further assistance you can give would be much appreciated.
Thanks again.

Thanks for your response.  My cousin Barry James Smith was born 24th September 1946 in Oldchurch Hospital, Romford, Essex. Unfortunately it seems to be a common name and causes lots of confusion!
I knew my cousin well up until the late 1970's when our lives diverged but I still saw him at family events.
Thanks again.

A tree on Ancestry has a Barry James Smith, born 24 Sep 1946 Romford, Essex, died Australia 2007.

He is on the electoral roll as a boilermaker living in the Brisbane QLD area with a K... L... Smith (maiden name according to the tree, starting with a V, and not named as she may still be living)

Thanks for your response.  This, I am afraid, is the other Barry James Smith with an incorrect DoB!  I am aware of this website and have advised the owner.  My first cousin was a surveyor and, as far as I know, was never married, certainly not to the Kay who you mention.  Barry James Smith does seem to be a rather common name, which makes this search all the more difficult.
Thanks again for your response.  M

Thanks for your response.  My cousin Barry James Smith was born 24th September 1946 in Oldchurch Hospital, Romford, Essex.

There is no birth registration for September 1946 in Romford reg district but there is a possible one for 1945.
What was his mothers maiden surname

Thanks for your response.
My cousin was born as I previously stated but may have been registered in Hornchurch where the family lived and where he was baptised on 23rd December 1946 at Holy Cross Church, Hornchurch.
Old Church Hospital in Romford was the local hospital.  Hi mother's maiden name was Dennett.
Thanks again.  M
