Photograph yourself completing the census?

Something to pass on down the family?  We only thought of it too late.

Good idea. I'll certainly either photo and save the completed form, or capture the screenshots if I do it online. Otherwise everything will be unavailable until 2122 for my family.  I wish I'd thought of diong this for the previous 4 censuses!

BTW you shouldn't have submitted it yet. It should reflect the situation on Sunday night, which might just differ in detail from the day you entered it.

We were thinking more about photographing the people.  We did it in advance as we thought it might be busy. We read this in the Express.

Can you fill out the census form early?

Anyone who can't complete the census by March 21 should ensure they do so "as soon as possible after".

Although this is the allotted date, people can complete their census forms earlier than this.

Those who choose to complete the form earlier may find their circumstances change before March 21.

In this case, they should contact census runners with the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Oh I thought by "too late" you meant "already done it online".

We know somebody who's already done it online - but she reckoned that since she lives alone there'll be no change before Sunday. Yes, we will take family photos too.

You can do it online now but can go back into it using the code you have and amend it so it does not matter that you have done it before 21st.  I have done mine and saved & printed the result.

At least by doing it early it is not going to get forgotten

Most people I have asked have done theirs.  I’ve just requested a paper form and new access code. We’ve not yet received a letter. I’m not surprised as we regularly get our neighbours post and vice versa so goodness knows where our census bumff has gone. ::)

I did mine yesterday. As every day since January seems to have been the same due to the lock down, I doubt very much if anything will change! I suppose if you live in a large household where people may be away over night or visiting (illegal at the moment anyway) in might be better to wait.

Presumably an electronic system will prevent anyone being counted more than once ?  [though I bet someone somewhere will be trying it].  I know of a group of three, recorded once in Everton and again in Aughton some miles away, I think in 1851.  Presumably their form was filled in by a householder in anticipation or with hindsight.

All this talk of the Census got me worried, as I haven't received a code yet. It wasn't until I checked online that I discovered that in Scotland the Census has been delayed by a year due to COVID, so phew!
