Arthur Hywel Roberts : born 1894 in Corwen, Merionethshire

I now have a copy of his birth certificate and his birth date is shown as 10 June 1894 in Bryn Y Groes, Garth, Llangollen, Llangollen Rural, Denbighshire, Wales. Unfortunately he's still not coming up in the 1939 census using that date so I'm not sure there is much else I can do.

As far as I can tell, he is in the 1939 Register.  It seems that the transcriber did not enter his year of birth.

He is on his own.  Borough/District Smethick CB  Staffordshire.  I don't know if the occupation may ring any bells for you.

As a matter of interest, who were his parents and what was his father's occupation?  Does the father's name match up with what was on Arthur's marriage certificate?

His father was John Roberts (1858 - ?) and his mother was Catherine Jane Jones (1863 - 1943).  His father was shown as an engine driver in a brickworks on Arthur's birth certificate.

Looks like they are living here in 1911 Bryn Y Groes Garth Llangollen, Llangollen Rural, Denbighshire

John Roberts born 1858 in Denbighshire Garth - Occupation is given as Electriction (electrician?) working for a brick works.
Catherine Jane Roberts born 1863 Denbighshire Bryneglwys

Then the two children Arthur Hywel (1894) and Evan Goronwy (1898).  Arthur's occupation is Grocer Apprentice.

Yes I did find that one.  It's actually the second marriage I'm trying to find, to see where the 4 half siblings of his son John Gwynfryn Ackland Roberts fit in.  His first wife died in 1926.
