Hi Rosie

I have not forgotten I owe you a reply, I've been working on the Barclay's via Scotlandspeople site and I have had some success and I need to do some more research before I write an answer to you.

Best wishes
Roy

Using the Scotlandspeople website I have followed my great grandfather George Barclay through the censuses.  He was born in 1853 in Duddingston to John and Helen Barclay.  The family had moved to Dalkeith by 1861 where his mother died two weeks after the census recorded.  In 1871, I find him listed as boarder in the household of his elder brother John Barclay and his family at Dee Street, West Calder.  George married 28 Jan 1874 to Euphemia Pilley at the Manse, West Calder.  In 1881, George & Euphemia were at 22 Breadalbane Street, St. Cuthberts, with son William aged 6 and daughters Margaret (4) and Euphemia (1).  For the next two decades (1891 and 1901), they lived at 186 Boddington Road, Leith, with additions to the family, namely, George born 1883, Helen 1885, Alexander 1887, Jane 1890, Robert 1895 and Mary 1897.  By 1911, they had moved to Anderson Place, South Leith.   George was then aged 58, Euphemia (54) and at home were son Robert (16) and Mary (14).
I next attempted to locate the death certificates for my great grandparents George and Euphemia Barclay m.s. Pilley but I have failed to do so and I would appreciate any help with this.

Euphemia Pilley or Barclay died in Kelso in 1933 aged 76.

Edit: crossed with Rosie's reply with the same information.

There are six deaths after 1911 of George Barclays born 1852 plus or minus two years. The most likely one died in Edinburgh George Square in 1931 aged 78.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
