Is this my grandfather or my father? Was it taken circa 1905 or 1930?

The photo appears to have been laminated onto a convex ferrous base - a bit like a "tintype" but not; if you see what I mean.

I would say this looks to be 1930s.

I've seen similar photos taken in 1920s and 1930s, so it's likely to be 1930 (your father)

The photos were mainly of older cousins (I was the youngest grandchild of  the maternal line and Mum was youngest daughter)

Yes I am too...I remember seeing the loops on the shirt that hold the straps in place in family photos.

Thanks all. I originally thought that but the hairstyle is identical to that my grandfather had in the twenties. (There’s a picture of him on page 79 of “Battersby Hats of Stockport - an illustrated history”)
