Ann TURNER 1771-1841
« on: Saturday 20 March 21 22:09 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find parentage etc of Ann TURNER.

She married Edward HARRIS at Broomfield on 2 Dec 1794. They had nine children in Broomfield.

Various trees online have her father as James, but so far have not found anything to prove this. These trees also have her death date as 28 Jan 1841 at Broomfield but according to Essex PRs this is her burial date at age 70, so born c1770-1771.

No baptism that I can se in Broomfield.

Hoping some fresh eyes can help.
Thanks.

Hi,

Had a look on Ancestry's Essex Parish Register (EPRI) and couldn't find an Ann Turner with a father James and couldn't find a baptism close to 1770 - 1771, unfortunately Broomfield register entries on Free Reg don't start until 1810.  Family Search don't have her as you've probably found out.

The marriage of Ann Turner and Edward Harris in 23 Nov 1794 at Broomfield on the EPRI states that it was the "date and place" of the Banns, might be it was the last of three Banns readings and the married on that same day.

If you could get a check of the actual parish register entry of Edward and Ann's marriage at Broomfield you might be lucky and find the entry mentions the Groom and Bride's fathers, the EPRI very often fails to show that sort of detail.

There is on Find My Past a record from Essex Baptisms of an Edward Harris 1773 at Broomfield Essex, I don't have a sub with FindMyPast so I couldn't go further with it, however I found him on the EPRI finally as Edward Uarriss baptised 26 Sep 1773 at Broomfield the son of John and Susannah.

There was also Edward Haris baptised 23 Aug 1778 at Broomfield the son of Edward and Mary.

Regards
Concentrating currently on:
Essex: Card, Harris, Stowell, Theobald/Tibbles & Turner.
Norfolk: Beale, Cork & Dalton.
Yorkshire: Oswald Sturdy birth/baptism c1708, Oswald where the devil are you?

I am also looking for the parents of Ann Turner. Ancestry insist on telling me that her father was James, born around 1770, and her mother was Ann Donselto, died Broomfield 1802. I only have access to the library edition of Ancestry and Find My Past, also tried Wikitree but no luck. I can't even find a trace of anyone with the name Donselto in the UK. Will post if I find the elusive information!

Ancestry do not publish their own trees on the site, what you will find are trees uploaded by customers,so it may be worth contacting the owner of the tree.

I contacted the owner of the tree and have heard back from them but not about Ann Turner as yet.
