Hi
Can anyone please check this for me with an original?
Something seems to be very, very wrong.
On Ancestry the baptism is given as 26 May 1783 with parents David Ross and Helin (Helen) Fraser, but all other eight children of those parents are baptised between 1727 and 1748.
I have no birthdates for the parents but logic suggests that if they started producing sprogs in 1727 they would have been in their 70s/80s by the time of Katharin's birth!
There is another spanner in the works too...
All other eight children are born/baptised in Inverness, whilst Katharin's baptism states "Tain, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland".
For info, the children are:
- James, baptised 14 Sep 1727
- Angus, baptised 12 Dec 1729
- Margaret, baptised 25 May 1732
- Jean, baptised 25 Aug 1734
- Peter, baptised 20 Jun 1737
- Duncan, baptised 8 Aug 1742
- Betty, baptised 9 Aug 1745
- Malcolm, baptised 18 Jan 1748
- Katharin, baptised 26 May 1783
Could it be 1733, not 1783? Or even 1743? A birth would have been quite possible then given the above baptisms.
The only problem then would be the place...
Or is this just a rogue baptism for a different couple?
Any and every scrap of help would be appreciated!
Thanks in anticipation.
