I thought I had found him in Newcastle in 1851  but that wife is a widow in 1861. Please could you give some more information about him - wife, children etc. Where they were born.

I also see the baptism of Michael Markey in 1808. Is he definitely your Michael?
If so, what other information are you looking for as his parents are given.

Cheers, he was married to Mary Gourlay and they had about 7 kids. They left Ireland and went to Dundee then Edinburgh and then settled in Newcastle. They had kids along the way. I think his mam was Margaret Neil and his dad Micheal Markey.

Oh the more I look his birth in 1808 might not be correct . Mary gourlay is from Tyrone. Her mother is Nancy Hamilton. There seems to be a lot of Michael Markys ...not sure if it is a common Irish surname ?

Did he marry in Scotland? Is that where you get his parents’ names?

In 1851 , Edinburgh, he is 38yrs born abt 1813.

In 1861 3824/ 42/9 , Newcastle
He is 40 yrs x born abt 1821

In 1871 5074/63/46

He is transcribed as Richard on Ancestry but the image has Michael. He is 58yrs born abt 1813.

Yes that is the one. I think I got temporarily side tracked with the 1808 one. My Micheal Markie ithought was of Michael Mark and Elizabeth Neil. I think I’m getting confused .
