Death look up please
« on: Friday 02 April 21 12:18 BST (UK) »
Elizabeth Trott born 1842 Hatch Somerset married Alfred Milton in 1869 Bristol.  Alfred was born in 1843 Bristol.  In 1871 Alfred is a Porter and they are both living in Bristol.  After 1871 Elizabeth seems to have disappeared. Alfred seems to have remarried in 1893 to Elizabeth Swaish, they were both in the Stapleton work house in 1891 so guess they must of met there. Alfred is stated as M in 1891.

Alfred dies in 1915, but cannot find a death for Elizabeth.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is he the tool smith living in Nottingham with the Brooksbank family in 1911?

If so he's a widower,so Elizabeth had already died by then.

In 1891 there is an Elizabeth Trott working as a servant/cook in Pitminster ,aged 49 and born West Monkton(I have rellies born there!)

She says she's single but then maybe she had to do that to keep the job?

By 1911 she's living in London, now age 66,but also single- is she yours?

Carol I am not sure, could be but difficult to prove. I am having trouble finding them in 1881.  The marriage very likely did break up and its not the first ancestor I have on my tree who was married and declared she was single,

Divorce was very difficult, especially for women, and expensive.

Easier to split up and say she was single.
