Robert Wayland c.1829-31 Hadleigh, Essex

Hi all,

I've been stuck on this one for a while and wondered if anyone had any information of could suggest anything to help further...

I am looking for the father / mother or Robert Wayland. The ancestry is as follows.

1. Arthur Percy Wayland m. Betsy Smith (both born in Rochford c.1886 and married in 1908 Rochford, Essex).

2. Arthur Percy Wayland's parents were...
Joseph Wayland (1857 in Prittelwell Essex) and Phoebe Cockley born (1860) married in 1885 Essex.

3. Joseph Wayland's parents were...
Robert Wayland (1829-1831) and Caroline Grigg (1833- Thunderlesey, Essex) who married in 1850,

The census information I have for Robert Wayland is as follows. (I know the family were travellers so don't know if this has anything to do with it or not down the line.

1841- Born in 1831 Essex, aged 10, living with a  William Wayland aged 35 (as father) a Sarah wayland, aged 20 and a Henry Wayland (ages 5). I can understand that the William Wayland here could be the father, of both Robert and Henry (whom I can't find anything about hereafter), but there are not further records for a Sarah (even if she was old enough to be the mother (possibly a sister?) and the only other records for a William Wayland have him married to a Mary (which I cannot find a marriage for nor the birth of Robert to indicate that she was the mother even if she was living as a visitor elsewhere at the time of the census.)
1851- Born in 1829 Hadleigh, agricultural labourer
1861- Born in 1829 Hadleigh, Essex, agricultural labourer
1871- Born in 1831 London, agricultural labourer
1881- Born in 1831 London N K (not sure what the N K stands for), Agricultural labourer
1891- Born in 1830 Hadleigh, England, Agricultural Labourer
1901- Born in 1831 London, England, General Labourer
1911- Born in 1831 London, England, widowed, no occupation

The marriage certificate should name his father.  Transcription has his father down as William but can't view any other details.

You can order a copy of the marriage certificate if you wish or someone may be able to find it online somewhere for you.

The marriage cert does give his father as William and the witnesses were James Grigg and Hannah Grigg. They were married in Thundersly.

There is a marriage in Thundersley 12th April,1846 of a William Wayland, widower to a Mary Grey, widow. William's father is also down as William, witnesses George Harper and Sarah Day
