Hugh Gallen family
« on: Tuesday 06 April 21 21:37 BST (UK) »
Looking for the father and mother of Hugh Gallen, born 1825 (probably in Black Lion vicinity perhaps Oggal). Hugh married Bridget Dolan and died in Burren, Co Cavan in 1897. Hugh's son, Hugh Joseph Gallen immigrated to Boston in 1881 on the Malta. He died in Sommerville, Mass, USA in 1929.

...Hugh married Bridget Dolan and died in Burren, Co Cavan in 1897...

I read the place of death as Barran:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1897/05848/4656882.pdf

Griffith's Valuation shows a Hugh Gallon at Barran in the civil parish of Killinagh, the print date was 1857.  Burren is a different townland a couple of km to the east, in the same civil parish (there's also one in the civil parish of Templeport). Also in the Valuation listing for Barran is a Timothy Gallon, which might be one and the same as the Thady Gallon in the following paragraph (the name Thady = Timothy).

There was a death registered within Enniskillen district in 1869 for a Thady Gallon, with a reported age of 86, it might be worth bookmarking the record until such times as the folk behind the 'irishgenealogy' website upload its image, to see if there is anything in the record to indicate whether he is related.

The reason I mention him is that a couple of years earlier in March 1867, Hugh and Bridget (Dolan) Gallon had a son at 'Baran', whom they named Thady:

There was a death registered within Enniskillen district in the same name in the second quarter of 1867, age at death 0 - another one to bookmark.

There is also an 1834 entry in the Tithe Applotment Books for a Thady Gallon in the townland of 'Barron' in Killinagh:

Barran townland (Oggal lies immediately to the east):
