« on: Wednesday 07 April 21 11:51 BST (UK) »
Hello Can anybody help me find William (BILLY) Hardy all I know from what I'm told he died in Saxilby Lincolnshire 1921 he was walking home from pub and drown in water  he is cousin to Thomas Hardy from Worksop who was born 1912. Sorry I have no more information but I tried looking for William buried in Saxilby but no luck. Maybe I'm looking in wrong places. Thank you in advance

The age of death suggests a birth year of 1854.

But you say he was a cousin of someone born 1912 - so maybe not first cousin? Or is 1912 wrong? How do you know that they were related?

The Sheffield Daily Telegraph has a  snippet of news on him dated 31st March 1916
"William Hardy, a Saxilby joiner, and his son were conveying a coffin in a light spring cart, and when near Hardwick the animal became very restive and the occupants alighted. They attempted to lead the pony but it reared and plunged but it eventually threw off its bridle broke loose and set off at a mad pace for Lincoln..." it knocked over two people but was eventually caught. I am hoping the coffin was empty at the time!

William and Jane are in the censuses in Saxilby, with a pob of Saxilby for William and yob around 1850.

Unfortunately freeBMD gives 2 possible births for a William Hardy in 1849,both in the reg district of Lincoln, which covers Saxilby.
