Joe Doherty Mullaghduff & Margaret Dungloe
« on: Wednesday 07 April 21 21:32 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find out more information about my Grandmother Alice Doherty who was from Dungloe I believe. She was born 22 March 1934. I now know that her father was Joe Doherty from Mullaghduff, and her mother was Maggie/Margaret from Dungloe. My Grandmother spoke of her sisters Mary Doherty who married Robert Tolland (I now know Mary sadly passed away in 2017 and is buried in Anagry) I also recall her talking about her sister Josephine Doherty who I believe had two children Rose and Patrick (she possibly had more children) and I think I recall her talking about Tess Doherty. I remember her telling me she had spent time in the work house in Stranorlar and she had worked in the Portnoo Hotel Donegal. Any information would be much appreciated 🙏

Welcome to Rootschat  :)
We aren't allowed to post details of living people and the details you have so far are fairly recent (births less than 100 years old, etc.).
Your mother's birth certificate will list her mother's maiden name. Once you have both names you can search for their marriage registration, etc.-

You might also find them in 1910 & 1911 census (Doherty, with spelling variations, is probably one of the most common surnames in the area)-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
