3061492 Pte James George Williams 1 Bn Royal Scots

Further to my my enquiries on 3061492 Pte James George Williams died 19 March 1943 Rangoon of the Royal Scots Regiment.
I have tried everywhere for his date of enlistment, unfortunately everywhere is closed due to Covid, could anyone help me with his enlistment date.

Hello Jebber.

I went down that avenue and duly sent off my £30 at the beginning of Feb but have heard nothing back. I believe they are still closed and when they return there will be a huge backlog

There is always a long wait, extended at the moment because  Covid  has slowed things up considerably. Their main responsibility is to serving personnel,  veterans, their widows and widowers,  applications for family history are bottom of the list. Be prepared to wait months.

My husband sent for his late father's Service Record in February. Like you not heard anything to date and don't expect to for some months yet.

We will all have to be patient.

I have heard it is taking about a year at the moment.  Eitrher send a Postal Order or an undated cheque as if the cheque is dated it only lasts six months - so they return it and you go to the back of the (long) queue!
