"25201 re DCM"
« on: Monday 19 April 21 10:53 BST (UK) »
The standard Medal Card and Military Medal Card for Thomas William Foster make reference to

"25201 re DCM"
and
"25201 enquiry re DCM"

Any ideas what that means, please?  Many thanks

In case it helps, DCM = Distinguished Conduct Medal.

Yes, thanks.

I've tried the London Gazette, but can only find his MM listing; and the National Archives just have his MM card and standard medal cards.

I may well be wrong, but could DCM instead of MM been entered on the Medal card in error, hence the enquiry.

The list he's on in the London Gazette is clearly one of MM awardees

Maybe he was recommended for one, but awarded the other?  Does a DCM trump a MM, or is it the other way around?

It could be that he was recommended for the DCM but was awarded the MM instead hence only the one gazette entry.
