William Porter Ballyeaston 1782 conections with South Africa
« on: Monday 29 August 05 16:09 BST (UK) »
Has anyone got family conections with this William Porter (children Alexander,John ,Samuel, annie) who had connections with South Africa through 1750 's to 1850's.

Or are there any other families in Antrim with South African connections.

Hiya Steve,

There's a book called: -  The Irish in South Africa - The Police, A Case Study The author is a guy named
Donal P. McCracken, University of Durban-Westville I think you may safely say there were Co. Antrim people in South Africa. The write up about the book mentions retailers and the  Ulster Protestant-owned chain stores such as John Orr, William Cuthbert and R. H. Henderson.

All the Best, Chris
