I can't find anything on a Hugh O'Neill with a service number of 11585. However, I did find one with the service number of 11575

Ancestry have his Medal Index Card and it shows:

Pte. Hugh O'Neill - Royal Dublin Fusiliers, Service Number 11575. Heavy Machine Gun Corps, Service Number 16668, Military Foot Police, Service Number P 17628

The date of his overseas service (no doubt in France) was the 23 August 1914. He was awarded the 1914 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

The Medal Rolls registers reveal that he was in the 2 Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and then in the 10th Company of the Heavy Machine Gun Corps.

There is no sign of a service record - no doubt one of the many that was destroyed during the bombing of London in WW2
