Please help date 2 photos from Cardiff - Davies/Thomas/Symons family

I have these two unknown photos from the same bundle. The boy is a ‘real’ photo stuck on card, the group is extremely thin beige paper but it’s very old not a modern copy.
Also looking closely at the group the middle child has a cane/stick - does it look like he may be blind?
They are both from a collection from my maternal grandparents from Cardiff - Davies, Symons, Thomas, Farr families.

Any info would be fantastic.

The first one looks as if it could have been a piece taken from a larger school photo. The photo is likely to be 1910-1920  -girls shoes look like 'Mary Janes' and the boys collars are simialr to ones I've seen on a 1917 photo:  https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/441986150920802918/

I wonder if the children in the first photo are actually dressed up for something  - rather than the middle child being blind?     Just a thought.
