David Caffie or Caffile. HELP
« on: Saturday 01 May 21 20:01 BST (UK) »
I have been searching for this person for years with no luck.
He was the son of John Caffile and Martha McGhie and lived in Stoneykirk.
In 1867 he married Elizabeth Marshall
in 1870 Elizabeth married William Kelly and she was a widow.
What happened to David?
I can find his father's second marriage and his death but no David. Can anyone help!!!!!!!!

What was his occupation on the 1867 marriage cert?  Was he a mariner?

Long shot

Had the same situation with the husband of one of my ancestors.  Child b 1886 & she remarried as a widow in 1888 but no death for husband.   Thought she was a bigamist then found he had gone to USA in 1886 to join her brother and she was to follow after the baby was born.  He died of Typhoid in 1886.

Many thanks.
I’ll check that out.
I’m doing an online course on genealogy at Futurelearn at the moment so will ask the question there as well
