complicated is one word for it,  I think it's a complete mess and I'm very grateful to you all for looking

I thought exploring other family members might help and then started looking for any John Davies b1860 in the area, found the Henry from High Bray with a Margaret and a baby John so wondered who he was

sorry for any confusion

I've seen a tree on Ancestry that states he married a Mary Jones 25th (or 28th, can't read my own writing) October 1881 Llanwonno - certificate shows he was son of a John Davies, deceased and she was dau. of a Thomas Jones, collier.

it does say John

which would make John b1821 Ystrad, Cardiganshire, son of Rachel and Thomas the logical answer

part of me was quietly hoping Henry was a Henry John, I still think he's part of the tree, just maybe not on the branch I thought he might have been
