What are ALL the details that you have from census?
ALL of both he and those he was living with.

What are ALL the details from those marriage certs.
Age, occupation, witnesses, the whole shebang.

Pauline

The 1864 marriage cert on FindMyPast shows "bachelor" crossed and and "widower" written in. Father was "Edward Potter, labourer".

He's with his parents on 1851c age 15 (census given by Pauline)

Do you know Daniel's whereabouts in 1861?

There's an 1858 marriage at Filey between Daniel Potter, fisherman and Elizabeth Haseby. Daniel's father is "Edward Potter, labourer".
I think this couple are in Filey in 1861 (Rg09  3615  12  24)and Daniel's PoB is Norfolk. The place has been transcribed as Hothfield.

I looked at the 1861 Census image before the transcript and did wonder if Daniel's PoB was "Hethfield" or "Hetchfield" - an attempt to capture "Edgefield"?. I then checked the transcript which gave "Hothfield".

Yet to spot a place name in Norfolk beginning with an "H" and ending "field"
