Brennan's in Baltinglass
« on: Tuesday 04 May 21 10:28 BST (UK) »
My great - great grandfather Laughlin died in 1889, his sister Anne was present at his death.
There seems to be a problem with the age difference. Laughlin was 50 when he died and had a brother Matthew who was 84. Laughlin was born around 1838 and according to his brothers death certificate age was born 1804. Could there be a mistake in the age difference?

There is no record for Laughlin's birth or marriage certificate, however I was able to find a list of
Anne Brennan's

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-perform-search.jsp?namefm=Anne&namel=brennan&location=Baltinglass&yyfrom=&yyto=&type=B&submit=Search&sort=&pageSize=100&century=1800&decade=&exact=&ddBfrom=&ddMfrom=&ddDfrom=&ddPfrom=&mmBfrom=&mmMfrom=&mmDfrom=&mmPfrom=&yyBfrom=&yyMfrom=&yyDfrom=&yyPfrom=&ddBto=&ddMto=&ddDto=&ddPto=&mmBto=&mmMto=&mmDto=&mmPto=&yyBto=&yyMto=&yyDto=&yyPto=&locationB=&locationM=&locationD=&locationP=&keywordb=&keywordm=&keywordd=&keywordp=&event=&district=

Could anyone help identity the right Anne Brennans parents?

My great unlce was a Lawrance Brennan, when I type in Anne Brennan one comes up whos father is a Lawrance. Laughlin Brennans son was Matthew my great grandfather, could there be a contection?

For reference-
Laughlin Brennan died 1889 in Togher- sister Anne Brennan same townland-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1889/06125/4749236.pdf
Age 50 (born c1839) so before birth registration.

Closest I can find at the moment to marriage is this one in Rathdrum-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1867/11497/8227305.pdf
daughter Agnes born 1868-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1869/03411/2251074.pdf

Civil registration of births started in 1864 so it's unlikely that the sister Anne Brennan that was informant in 1889 will have a birth registration either. The fact that in 1889 she was Brennan indicates that she either wasn't married or that she married a man with the same surname.

Possible death- Anne Brennan, spinster, died 1890 at Togher age 74 (born c1816)- informant was a Kate Brennan-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1890/06097/4740110.pdf

A Matthew Brennan had son Laughlin Eden Brennan in 1865-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Why would there be a big age difference if Anne was born in 1816?

Did not see Laughlin's marriage certificate. I might have got mixed up with 2 Laughlin's. That would make Anne Laughlin's Aunt ?
