Throne Hospital
« on: Saturday 08 May 21 14:55 BST (UK) »
Finlay McNab died at Throne Hospital April 12th 1915, can anyone tell me where Ballygoland (??) is as this is next to the Hospital in the date and place of death section, i.e. Throne Hospital, Ballygoland. I cannot read this entry correctly.  It is on the irishgenealogy.ie.civil records website. I have searched in Belfast for this area but cannot trace it, apparently Throne Hospital was 244 Whitwell Road but no mention of any other area such as Ballygoland.
Any help would be much appreciated!

This is it here I think:

The present building is a small remnant of what used to be there - see PRONI historical maps:

Throne Hospital, Whitewell Road, Ballygolan/Newtownabbey BT36 7EN
Children’s hospital, opened 1874, with separate convalescent home added in 1877. Later  became a hospital for the elderly. Closed 1992.

As an aside if you google "Old Throne Hospital" there are many pictures of it both on the main page & the images tab such as https://www.d-on.co.uk/old-throne-hostpi
