Help translating German document please
« on: Monday 10 May 21 06:57 BST (UK) »
Hoping that someone will be able to assist me in translating the narrative on the attached Prussian image ( apologies for the quality)

I have been told old German script is very hard to read, but fingers crossed maybe someone will recognise some of the words.

The narrative relates to two children listed on the Stargard 1839  Seelenregister 1742-1845.

Many thanks for any assistance or advice.

Hello E,

The text reads,

im Armenhause
aufgenommen und
sind jetzt in Pflege beim
Schumacher Lampe

Admitted to the Poor House and now in care with the shoemaker Lampe (i.e. Mr. Lampe, the shoemaker)

Evening Justin,

Many thanks for the translation.  Well that was an eyeopener, so the two boys were taken from their mother, certainly explains why one came to Australia.

Justin can I please ask another favour from you, there was narrative beside the mothers name - only first line looks legible ?  Not sure why the next two lines are crossed out.  Also I can make out that she was a widow and her date of birth was 29th  ??  1805 .

Hello,

I really need to see more of the page to be able to compare the letters in other words.

The word above Wittwe could be Jäger (hunter). The entry in the right-hand column appears to start "Jinick geb[oren] Berl...". I can't make out what has been crossed out.

The month is probably Septb = September.

Sorry to be of such little help. Justin

Hi Justin

You have helped me a lot, thank you very much.  I am not having much luck compressing the file so that you can enlarge.  Unfortunately the orginal is abt 2.4MB  way over 500 limit. When my son comes home I will see if he can come up with a solution.
