Mary Whitear of Preston Candover.

Sorry people its me again.   

I am trying to find the birth record of my Gt Grandmother Mary Whitear. She was Christened on the 2nd Feb 1854 at Preston Candover her parents were William and Ann Whitear MMN Patience.

I have tried every spelling that I can think of. Either the birth was never registered or I am doing something wrong.

I don't need anything else about her, I have all the other info. It is just her birth registration that I am stuck on.

Can anyone help please.

It does not look as though the registrars for Alresford district registered many births for girls with the name Mary in 1853/54.  I have just searched freebmd without putting in a surname and there are only 32 Marys baptised over the 2 years 1853/54 and none with a surname similar to Whitear.

Sorry I could not see her either, It looks like she was missed by the registrar. Perhaps she was born around Christmas  .

Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874/5

sorry it is not your Mary Whitear - but looks to be part of the family - Mary Whitear born 1793 in Preston Candover

Yes it is the right lady. Probably the only spelling of the name I missed out. Thank you very much. Mary was one of four children and she was the only one whose name was wrongly spelt.
