Court fight for a toilet indoors
« on: Friday 21 May 21 10:03 BST (UK) »
I found an article in the Dumfries and Galloway Standard in February 1926 suing the Duke of Bedford for not agreeing to instal a toilet in his farm cottage at Carsewilloch near Creetown.
Can anyone help me find the information online
Any help appreciated

What information are you actually looking for?

If you mean the court documents, you need to note from the article which court the case was heard in, and look for the records of that court. The chances of the details being available online are very slim indeed.

Try the Scottish Archive Network https://www.scan.org.uk/ or https://www.dumgal.gov.uk/article/15308/Local-archives to start with.

I see that the Duke of Bedford bought Carsewilloch in 1924.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thankyou for the information. The court was Kirkcudbrightshire and it was Sheriff Valentine
I’ll try the link you sent as unable to travel at the moment due to COVID

See also https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/research/guides/sheriff-court-records which suggests that the records of Kircudbright Sheriff Court are in the care of the National Records of Scotland.
