Looking for birth records in Kirkcudbright and Balmaghie

I haven't got a clue where to start. I'm trying to find a birth registered for George Connelly abt 1928 kirkcudbright and a Mary Elizabeth Carruthers born 1926 Balmaghie. I'm not having much luck.
Any suggestions please?
Gillard, Bowden,Burden,Lock,Rowe,Sartn,Chitty.
