Eliza Ann Janes Eaton Bray 1865/6
« on: Tuesday 25 May 21 19:18 BST (UK) »
Hi, me again, trying to tidy up the Culverhouse tree before I release it. Now looking for a Christening or correct parents of Eliza Ann Janes quarter ending Sep 1865 Leighton Buzzard  Vol 36 page 401. I have all the other details, her 1st marriage and children and her marriage to John(Johnny) Culverhouse. Unfortunately she had the habit of using the names Ann or Annie on documents until her 2nd marriage from then on uses the name Eliza Ann. Any help always appreciated, thanks. Pete

No mother's maiden name on GRO for this birth

There's a few Janes the right age in Eaton Bray ni 1871, including an ELizabeth J but no Eliza Ann/Ann

You would need to buy a copy of her birth cert to establish her mothers christian name as she appears to have been illegitimate.  Have you found her on a census with her mother?  Does she give a fathers name on her marriage certs?

A tree on Ancestry has her birthdate as 25.6.1865.  It also has her parents as Jesse & Fanny.

Shows first marriage to Banks then Culverhouse & death in 1948.

If her father was Jesse - then that can be verified by buying a copy of either of her marriage certs

The date of birth fits the 1939 register - the Eliza Ann birth was registered July-Sept 1865, which does fit

I don't think Annie Janes who marries Francis Banks gives a father when she marries, judging by an index on Ancestry. which might count out the daughter of Jessie. He marries Fanny Lawson in 1865, and there's this birth registration - better fits the 4 year old in Jessie's household on 1871

JANES, ANN
mmn LAWSON
Q2  1867 LEIGHTON BUZZARD  Volume 03B  Page 415

This person on 1871 in Edlesborough is interesting. I can't find a birth registration to match

Thomas Janes    50    ag lab b Eaton Bray
Sarah Janes    50
John Janes   19
Abel Janes   15
Mary Janes   13
William Janes  11
Emma Janes   10
Ann Bones    5    Visitor  b Eaton Bray

The same child appears to be enumerated as Ann Janes granddaughter, b Eaton Bray, in 1881

It may be a coincidence but Thomas and Sarah's daughter Naomi marries a John Smallbones in 1869, dying in 1871

And is this possibly Eliza Ann being baptised ?

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JW9N-D32

Lucy Smallbones, with same parents, is also baptised in August 1871. Dates recorded are 21 and 27 - but without the image to check it may b possible they were baptised on the same date and one is misrecorded, given 1 and 7 can be similar

Thanks anyway folks, I had seen all those census, even had her linked to Jesse and Fanny but unlinked them. Might have to leave this one hanging, as for buying certificates, I have over 2000 UK Culverhouses plus more abroad so could be expensive :) Thanks for trying.
