Latin Handwriting deciphering 1712 Mold, Flint baptismal record
« on: Thursday 27 May 21 15:16 BST (UK) »
Could someone please help me decipher the attached baptismal record of 1712 from Mold, Flintshire, Wales, which appears to be in Latin?

My best guess is "Ricard (Richard) f[ilius]/son of Thomas Eabul & oh cath. ux. opus &I Boosfress? [word at end of line above; Richard's abode] Marie (Mary) [whose father] is Johan (John) .... oh Maria/Mary ux. opus de Mould (Mold)."

No idea where Boosfress? is but it appears several times on the same page.

Any assistance much appreciated. Happy to send record.

Best wishes

John

Looking at the image, there are two separate baptisms ...

25  Ricard(us) f(ilius) Thomę Eubule et Cath(erinę) ux(oris) ejus de Beestree Bapt
28  Maria f(ilia) Johan(nis) et Marię ux(oris) ejus de Mould Bapt

25  Richard, son of Thomas Eubule and Catherine his wife of Beestree, baptised
28  Mary, daughter of John and Mary his wife of Mould, baptised

There's another baptism to Richard and Catherine Eubule in 1709, where the writing is clearer.

Beestree/Bistre, see here ...

For help with deciphering, you really need to post images directly to the thread (as above), otherwise only those with access to the relevant site can help you.

Many thanks, Bookbox. I now see the 2 baptisms, as you say, key clue being the dates at the beginning (Duh).

Bistree also fits well with other information I have. However, for others in the family, the name, Eubule (sic) is written variously as Eubale, Eabal or Iball. Even so, I see Eubule is a rare first name, although not confined to Wales, and Welsh surnames are typically patronyms.

Best wishes

John

PS. Believe me, Bookbox, I tried to upload an attachment below the minimum size. However, as on all other occasions when I have tried to upload below-minimum images on to RootsChat, the site refused to accept and froze by post! Had to start the post again.
