Thomas Englestown

Help, please.  Thomas Englestown died in Hull in 1913, aged 71.  He was born in Norfolk.  I've been trying to follow him on the censuses on FS, but there's a problem.  Thomas was a verger in the Church of England.  The records appear to have been altered to show a different church in a different place from where he's living, and so it makes no sense, e.g. he is unlikely to have been living in Hull and working in Scarborough.  I would be grateful if someone could follow him back with the original images to get the facts.

Can you clarify - what records & where does Scarborough feature as I can't see anything to support it?

The 1901 census shows he is living and working in the Ecclesiastical parish of St Matthew in Hull.  No alteration & image specifically shows "verger St Matthews"

Thanks.  I don't have a subscription to get at the images, but the 1901 description says "Event place Leeds St Mary" and "Event place (Original) Holy Trinity" Hull.  Similarly the 1891 has the event place as St Mary's Scarborough with the original as Holy Trinity, Hull.  It's as if someone submitted amendments.

1891 & 1901 they are living at Bean Street - Parish Holy Trinity - Kingston upon Hull
