Where would he be in 1939

Can anyone advise how I discover where my cousin was at the time the 1939 register was taken?

He was in the RAF, would have been 25 years of age so probably among the first recruitment for the war.

I have no details of his rank, service number etc.

Service personnel had a different Register which is not online;   have you considered applying for a copy of his service record from the MOD?

Since you do not have his service number, there's this Index to airmen and airwomen's service records, held in TNA, Kew.

You need to go the the correct index for his surname which contains name and RAF service number only.

You don't need a Service Number in order to apply for his service records.
The forms ask for a Service Number OR a Date of Birth.

Thank you for info and tips.

Discovered an error in transcription 1939 register, for his parents and my grandmother, realised he wasn't with them ( he wasn't married then).  I knew he was in the RAF and something of his RAF history, wondered if - after 82 years - if it would be possible to find out where he was.
