Marion WHITE 1870-1923

According to her marriage registration in 1895 in NZ, Marion was aged 25, born Plymouth, England, and her parents were John James WHITE, Engineer and Helen MATTHEWSON.

Can find nothing online so far to confirm her birth as being in Plymouth.

Believe I have found John James WHITE in Devon in 1871 on board ship, married aged 30, occupation Engineer, born Clerkenwell, London. In 1861 is with parents and family in Woolwich, Kent, single aged 20, occupation Engineer.

Can anyone find a marriage anywhere, or a birth for Marion.

No.  Tried for a birth under Mat(t)Hewson too but nothing

John James WHITE engineer has record on Ancestry that says he was placed on the Retired List 1877 and DD (which I assume means deceased) 23 April 1904

so this might be his death.

And so I think he is in the 1901 census at 145 Commercial Road, Camberwell, a boarder. "Pensioner Retired Engineer, R.N."   it says he is Single 

added - the burial record (Norwood) gives his address as 145 Commercial Road.
