Goodness, Sandra, you have been busy. I woke up to a wealth of fabulous information regarding these Wattersons in Pennsylvania. Thank you so much and for including obits which are always useful. I will have to sit down and make a tree to sort them all out.
My first question was definitely answered and that was whether John Watterson's parents were Joseph Watterson and Mary Woods - answer no.
You have answered who was the wife of the John Watterson who married Margaret J - she was Margaret J. White. His parents Joseph Watterson and Eliza Ann Smith. I have been looking for the parents of Joseph and of Eliza Ann. Perhaps the North American Family History has that info. If 1813 Joseph followed the naming pattern, and he named his first son John, then his father might also be John. The unknown John? I wish they had given more info than just grandson of Belle.
Since on the 1860 census, for Joseph and Eliza, son John is 24, I am guessing their marriage was about 1835. Wondering if that would have parents on it.
I will be busy for a while doing up all this info.

I see George and Elizabeth on the 1850 census. George is 71.  But I don’t find them in 1860. Does anyone else? If not he must’ve died between 1850 and 1860. Maybe his death certificate gives his parents, Same for Elizabeth. First son Samuel born about 1800 although that makes Elizabeth only 15 when he was born so the ages must be out a little bit.

Pennsylvania - Statewide registration for Pennsylvania deaths began in 1906. Prior to the state keeping death records counties kept death records beginning in 1893.
