Volunteer Project - Old Palace School Bombing
« on: Wednesday 16 June 21 21:19 BST (UK) »
I have been investigating the Old palace School Bombing that took place in WW2 that saw 34 Firefighters lose their life. This is still today, the largest loss of life for the Fire Brigade at a single incident.

My aim is to try and trace the living descendants of all the firefighters.

If anybody would like to help with this project please send me a dm thanks.

Further info about the story can be found here:

I was just wondering if any kind researchers on here are able to put a shout out on their Facebook or genealogy pages, that I am trying to trace any living family members of the 34 firefighters who sadly lost their lives at this incident. Any help as always is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

This sounds like a very worthy project,  although I can't help personally either.

Perhaps it might be an idea to email the relevant local studies/archives in the area.  You could consider asking if it might be alright for you to make and send a leaflet poster about this which they might perhaps display.
Perhaps they might be able to pass on info about your project to any descendant who might contact them.
I would imagine that descendants will be contacting them - this is such a significant event.

Best Wishes with this research. :)

Thanks that’s a brilliant suggestion, local libraries and local study groups would be a good place to start.

As people have said, what an amazing project you have undertaken here  :)

Have you tried searching names for possible family trees by descendants or connected family members. I am searching on A/try and you need a subs to view as you likely are aware.

This tree for example is for the family of Hilda Dupree I would think www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/168409196/person/322187355426/facts

It is the first name I checked, so may be the only relevant one...or there may be others.
