Presbyterian Ist Derry Church records and access from Australia
« on: Friday 18 June 21 03:18 BST (UK) »
Can Presbyterian 1st Derry Church, county of Templemore records be accessed from Australia? I have found that Rootsireland appears to have them but their site doesn't have an $AUD currency conversion option.

I think they must also be on PRONI

This is the info I have found regarding what is available.

Bann Valley General: 235
Civil and Church of Ireland Parish: Templemore
Denomination: Presbyterian
Name of Church: Derry [1st]
Details of available records: Baptisms, 1815-1928; marriages, 1815-98; deaths, 1857-86; minutes, 1810-1949; communicants' roll, 1842-1931; financial reports, 1848-86
Where the records are held: MIC1P/294*; T2711/2* [CL 196]
Baptisms in DGC database: 1815- (forgot to record)
Marriages in DGC database: 1815-1900
Burials in DGC database: 1815-1936
Barony: North West Liberties of Londonderry.
(I am guessing this is in the PRONI database).

Kind Regards,

1st Derry Presbyterian Church is in Templemore Parish, County Londonderry.

PRONI holds the microfilm of the records (not online). Coleraine Library should also have a copy of the microfilms (my list isn't handy) but access again is not online.

You should be able to pay by credit card-

......

I have never had any problem purchasing credits on RootsIreland from here in New Zealand.  I used my NZ issued credit card or debit card and usually purchased the credit in GBP.  It is charged back to your account at the GBP/$AUS that is applicable at the time of purchase.

ok, thanks. I like to know how much I'm spending, when I spend it. I find it strange that it doesn't have an $AUD currency conversion option especially as a lot of convicts etc. went to Australia.

You can check on line for a daily converter, pick up a sheet from the bank, even ask the bank for an estimate if you use your credit card.  I have always found the conversions within $1- 2.50 of the daily estimate.  I watch my money but this does not seem to great a difference to budget for.

The site has the three main/usual trading currencies listed on it.
If you do decide to take the plunge an idea is to list the searches you want to do and work through them methodically.
