I have Mary Ann Knowler, believed born 1832 in Chilham, Kent in my family tree. However I am thoroughly confused as she seems to have married one of my ancestors, George William Frampton, born 1843 in Stone Kent, twice. Once as Mary Ann Knowler in 1865 and again as Mary Ann Andrews in 1873. Its driving me mad! Any help would be much appreciated.
That is a puzzle. Have you tried the newspapers? Rosie99 mentions in her post that in the 1865 marriage Mary Ann is refered to as being an "Andrews" and her father was named as Stephen Andrews but in the 1873, as Rosie99 points out, she is "Mary Ann Williams widow" and her father is named as Edward Knowler.
It looks like there may be two men named George William Frampton who both married women named Mary Ann. One marrying Mary Ann Andrews [spinster] in 1865 and one marrying Mary Ann Williams [widow] daughter of Edward Knowler in 1873.
The last post by Rosie99 shows that there's a death in 1868 for Mary Ann Frampton age 26. That makes her born c1842 but more importantly it means that the two marriages must refer to different people. Mary Ann Andrews married George William Frampton in 1865 but died in 1868. Then in 1873 George William Frampton [now a widower] married another woman named Mary Ann who was named Mary Ann Williams but was a widow, and whose maiden name was Knowler. It's possible both Mary's were about the same age hence the confusion.
I see Rosie99 has been busy with her replies too
so I will stop here myself
Hope you are able to sort this out.
