Missing Chadwicks in Hereford
« on: Thursday 24 June 21 14:58 BST (UK) »
I'm working on some Chadwicks in Hereford:

Elizabeth Chadwick:
1838: Presumed born but no formal birth record (a number of their family only have baptism records, not birth records)
  1838: Baptised 8th April
1841: Census with parents Richard and Elizabeth Chadwick and siblings
1851: Census with mother Elizabeth Chadwick and siblings
1861: Census with two siblings, Richard and Lydia
1861: Newspaper article in August as a witness to a lodger accused of causing the death of her (lodger's) daughter through neglect, same address as census.

Then she disappears - no marriage or death record that I can find, unless she travelled out of the area which may have happened but unlikely looking at the rest of the family.

In April 1862 I believe she had a daughter, Sarah Ann Chadwick:
1862: Presumed born in Hereford but no formal birth record
1862: Baptised in Hereford on 18th October, no father's name, mother's name Elizabeth Chadwick (there are few/no other records in this name in Herefordshire so very likely it's the above Elizabeth)
1871: Census living with her aunt in Pershore, Worcs.
1881: Census living with her aunt in Pershore, Worcs.
1882: Apr-Jun marries Joseph Evans in Pershore and goes on to have 11 children.

Has anyone researched/come across this family before? I'm trying to identify what happened to Elizabeth after 1862 and also the father of Sarah Ann (although assuming that's going to be a dead end).

I currently have access to Ancestry and a trial on Find My Past for accessing sources - are there any other Herefordshire sources that I'm missing?

Any pointers/help you can give would be appreciated.

No worries, I'd already got those Pershore census docs, and I had that marriage but it leads to a Joseph Evans in the census docs, not James, so I'll double check that.

I think the Elizabeth thing points to an unregistered death somewhere, unless I can manage to trace her on a later census with a different surname, having married, but finding the marriage first will be difficult because there's never really a way of discerning which Elizabeth Chadwick is on that marriage record.
