my great great great grandfather is a mystery robert hartley• born 1823 Liverpool, Lancashire,
he married elizabeth mary cain born 1838

they imigrated to Gympie qld and last we knew they abandoned there children elizabeth and robert edward  ,Robert was adopted by the inghams  and no one knew what happened to Robert and Elizabeth after they left the children,we did find elizabeth had another child with a different man but no death records for either

The marriage was 1862 Liverpool at St Annes.  Robert was a bachelor & a mariner.  His father Robert was a tailor & draper

Elizabeth’s father was a joiner.  She is shown as aged 20 on the marriage cert but was born 1838 Liverpool & is on the 1841 census which I presume you already have

Have you found Robert on the 1861 census to establish his birthplace?

When did they arrive in Australia?

If Robert stayed in Queensland then this seems like a possible death.
