From the 1901 census, this is George Leak's occupation.  Grocer with what?? 
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Grocer with Beer off.

Presumably he had an "off" licence for beer.

Ah yes, beer.  He's in Hull and an off licence was a "beer off" there.  Solved it, many thanks.  I could only read the word as Buns.
