Emily Bailey 1861 Ringwood COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 22 July 21 14:15 BST (UK) »
I can see Emily Bailey on the 1861 Census- born 1829 Ringwood- and living in Ringwood - her status to the Head of the house is Sister- but I cannot see who the Head of the house is!
Can anyone help by giving me a bit more information on this entry please in respect of further detail on the address or who the head of the house is!

Many many thanks
Caroline

Thank you- that is great! I had Charles Hiscock there - along with his brother Richard aged 24 and his daughter (also called emily) aged 8. I think there is also a boarder there called George Spragg- a teacher at the local school. Apart from his sister Emily Bailey does it show anyone else at that address please that i have missed.

Thank you so much

Caroline

Yes- thank you for the Poulner Lane address help. I am researching a terrace of cottages in poulner Lane known previously as Victoria Terrace, Poulner Lane Ringwood- and now part of Southampton Road, Ringwood. I am disentangling the families who lived there alongside extracts from historic newspapers etc- quite a challenge but am getting there!

I am also trying to follow Emily Bailey (nee Hiscock) after 1861 as there seem to be 2 or 3 possibilities in the later censuses with a husband George Bailey. I  Any ideas please! Their daughter Emily is with Emily Bailey's parents George and Virtue Hiscock in 1861- in Ringwood- and seems to have followd her parents Emily and George Bailey into high end domestic service by 1881 where she is aged 23 and a parlour maid for the Chief Clerk to the Admiralty and a knight- Sir John H Briggs in Kensington.
