All of this may be a red herring but given that Mary Mullan gave birth to Catherine in Glasgow & Bridget (Saunders) Ryan of St. Colomb's Wells, Derry was supposed to be Catherine's aunt I started by looking for a Mary Mullan born Ireland in Scotland. Eventually what I did find was a Mary Josephine Mullan, born Port Glasgow, living with her family in St. Columb's Wells. Using vital & cemetery records the following the family was fairly straight-forward.
Philip Mullan (c1864 Derry-26 Aug.1946) m.(c1898) Cecilia Gallagher (c1879 Port Glasgow-7 July 1946)
