I believe I have found my 3xgrandmother Elizabeth Todd  nee Benson.Elizabeth was born c 1795 St Bees Cumberland.possible parents John Benson and Elizabeth Birkett.Elizabeth m Edward Todd,I havent been able to find a marriage.Their first child Henry was born 1824 Glasgow.Edward was in the army from 1798 and was discharged to pension 1815.At some stage they went to Scotland where Elizabeth died 1869 a widow.I would love to find out when they married When Edward died etc any thing would help Thanks in advance Kate

I presume you have seen the details of the birth/baptism of Elizabeth Benson, 1795, at St Bees as shown  on Free Reg (assuming she is yours)

Sorry Elizabeth died a widow was the wife of Edward Todd she died in Clackmannan 1869 of Typhoid Henry Todd son present.I havent seen her birth so thank you Kate

Where do you see this TODD-BENSON family in census records before the death of Elizabeth, 1869?

Can you please list all the information on the death certificate, 1869.


"Edward was in the army from 1798 and was discharged to pension 1815"
Where did Edward enlist....where was he discharged?  What was his occupation after he left the army?

If Edward was discharged 1815 you would think they would have had other children before Henry 1824.
(thats if they married before 1824)

Also how do you know Elizabeth Todd was nee Benson?
Is that from her Parents names on her death cert?
