The Tack Organisation?
« on: Tuesday 10 August 21 18:42 BST (UK) »
This may not be specific to Northants but this item was found amongst the belongings of a relative who lived there.

It’s a badge attached to a key fob.

I’m intrigued. Is it an organisation related to horse tack, or tacks used in the shoe industry or something else?

Hope someone knows. There are some on sale on eBay but with no explanation.

Can't seem to find any info, other than they released a record entitled:
"You Are About To Use The Telephone - Remember These Points"  ;D

There are a few things in the newspapers that mention The Tack Organisation.

From what I've gleaned it seemed to be some sort of sales persons organisation and business.

Basically, there are various adverts from the 50s to the 90s, that speak of getting you to sell products to schools and businesses and joining their training school, which was at Longmore Street, London, amongst other addresses. There is also mention of the Tack School of Salesmanship, and a public speaking course. It seems to be mostly about business people and salesmanship skills.

By the 1990s the adverts say there were 40 branches of the school world wide.

There is no mention I could find in the 2000 - 2009 period.

So I would guess that perhaps your relative went on a course at some point, or perhaps even delivered training?
;D Doing my best, but frequently wrong ;D
:-* My thanks to everyone who helps me, you are all marvellous :-*

Thanks Stanwix. That sounds exactly right. The relative was a salesmen and the you, we, I mantra would fit the methods often taught for selling.

Solved!

Just looked at the reverse. J. A. Gaunt? Not the name of the relative. Perhaps the school branch, franchise, trainer, mentor?

Thanks too KGarrad - didn’t spot your post earlier but it ties in with Stanwix’s findings doesn’t it.
