Missing: Ann TANSLEY: born 1836

I am trying to determine the fate of Ann, the daughter of William TANSLEY and Amy JACKSON. She was born on August 30th and baptised in Cottingham on October 9th 1836. The last record I can find has her living in 1851 as a house servant at the Red Lion, Isham near Kettering with the family of inn keeper Sarah Reynolds.

Her records are somewhat confusing. Her baptism was erroneously entered in the register for 1830 initially and then crossed out. There are also some trees online which have her working as a cook at the Parsonage in Corby in 1861 listed as Martha Ann - but this is wrong and refers to Ann's first cousin.

Any help or pointers would be gratefully received.

Have you discounted the Ann TANSEY who dies registered at Hinckley in Jun qtr 1855 aged 19? (I realise Hinkley is some 40 miles from Isham.)

More or less discounted. The death registered in the Hinckley district in 2nd quarter of 1855 corresponds with the burial of 19 year old Ann Tansey of Stoney Stanton on June 8th that year.
That too would correspond with the baptism of Ann, daughter of William and Anne Tansey, in Stoney Stanton on November 15th 1835.
Couldn't see an 1851 census return for corroboration - but not "my" Ann Tansley, methinks!

Oh, that makes sense. She certainly is proving hard to locate. Happy to keep looking.

I guess the most likely scenario is that she died but her death was not reported. Death registrations were introduced in 1837 but not made mandatory until 1874. If there isn't a parish burial record then she could have just slipped through the net.
