« on: Monday 06 September 21 21:47 BST (UK) »
Hi:)
Im researching my gggrandfathers Family John Thomas Doody Born 1862 In Listowel Kerry  Parents Thomas Doody And Kate Galvin(Galivan)  Thomas's Parents were Maurice Doody and Johanna Barry  My Thought is Maurice Doody and Johanna Barry were Originally from Co Clare   Maurice born Circa 1790  Cant find their Marriage In Kerry   Family Here say Doodys Were Originally From Co Clare  Maybe Kilrush.  Ive done Dna Studies So have Family members So interested to Find out if they Did Originally Come from Co Clare Then Some Moved to Kerry
Some Doody Families That Came to South Australia Were From Co Clare From Around Clondegad
Thanks
Cathy:)

What date do you have for the first child to give an idea of marriage?

These records show that the parish was Duagh
https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0668

There is a child baptised 31st October 1825 here
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634298#page/36/mode/1up
A sponsor is Thomas Doody - may help.
The townland is Knockavallig https://www.townlands.ie/kerry/clanmaurice/duagh/duagh/knockavallig/

Duagh parish isn’t included in Tithe Applotment records but Ancestry shows
Maurice Dudy in Knockavallig in 1824.

Unfortunately, Duagh marriage records begin in 1832 and baptisms in 1819 on the parish site.

Just found a child, Maurice baptised to Maurice and Johanna, 28th December 1823 - Knockavallig.

Thanks Heywood And Maiden  I have been looking at Different Spellings For Doody  My lot in Australia Used Doody but Some from My line used O'Dowd In USA   Hadnt seen Dudy Before Re Maurice  They were in Knockvallig For Sure and Duagh  But I think Maurice Doody who Married Johanna Barry May have married in Clare Then moved to Co Kerry  But need Proof re that.
there was a Bishop O'Dowd in SF In USA That connects to my line
