I've found a John Pigram s/o James bapt in 1785 in HERTFORDSHIRE not Herefordshire.
I checked Herts because Pigram / Pigrum / Pegrum etc is quite a common surname here.
This John was bapt on 17 Apr 1785 s/o James and Sophia at Gilstone. Record says they were of Sawbridgeworth. There is a burial of a John of the right sort of age in Stansted Mountfitchet 7 Dec 1863 abode Stansted. But on the 1861 he's a widower born in Elsenham, so likely the son of John and Ann bapt 29 Jul 1787 Elsenham.

Thank you LizzieL. I'm looking for this family for a friend, he understand that John Pigram 1785 came from Essex. John 's father was James and grandfather Robert Pigrin 1740. My friend  has been told that James's wife was Sophia Love. I would be grateful of more help if possible.

Married at Gilston …… James Pigram, of the Parish of Gilston, in the County of Hertford, and Sophia Love, of the Parish of Sawbridgenorth of the same County, we’re married in this Church by license, this tenth day of January , in the year 1782. Both signed (badly/barely) and the witnesses were regular witnesses to other marriages that day.

I'm now looking for Robert Pigram 1740, I believe his wife may have been Hannah Camp. I have found 4 of his children. Any confirmation would be appreciated.
Also John Pigram/Pegram 1785 who was part of 34th Regiment who went to India.

There are several wills of Pigram available on Essex Archives' SEAX. This covers the eastern part of Herts. These people are mainly in western Essex, for example Clavering, with a few in Herts, for example Henry Pigram, of Gilston, yeoman, in 1732.

John Pegrum, buried 1858, age 74, 10mths, Moulmein India, Pensioned Corporal 2nd Madras European, formerly of H.M. 34th Regt and Clerk of St Matthew’s Church, died of natural decay.

I can see that first children named James & Sophia could indicate the Gilston baptism, but also note that there are various online family trees that state that John Pigrum was born 1784 in Tamil NDu Madras India?
