Could someone tell me if and how I can delete part of a comment that I've already posted?

If you added the post within the day, click on the "modify" tab at the top right and it will allow you to do this.

The “modify” button disappears after a specified time, so if your comment is older than that you won’t see it. The “modify” button is on the right of the “quote” button.

You can contact a moderator and ask them to remove or amend text if you wish.
