Lookup request for a Walcot Marriage
« on: Tuesday 21 September 21 16:19 BST (UK) »
Hello all,
This is a bit of a cheaky request, I have found a marriage;

Somerset, Walcot, St Swithin
Marriage date 24 Jun 1825
Groom Thomas GREEN  Bride Elizabeth BLAKEMORE

Can I prevail on someone's good nature with an ancestry.co.uk. subscription to provide me with a copy of the original register that is available on The Somerset, England, Marriage Registers, Bonds and Allegations, 1754-1914 record set. I am trying to find out if ELIZABETH described herself as a widow. Unfortunately my subscription has lapsed and I'm unable at this time to justify resubscription in the present climate. If this is the case it opens up what I think may be a reasonably unusual occurance. Will explain further if my hunch is correct.

Thank you in anticipation of a favourable result.

John K

Unfortunately the Ancestry image is for the reading of Banns on 5, 12, 19 June if I look for Thomas.  However, if I look for Elizabeth Blakemore then the marriage entry shows.  Thomas is a bachelor, and Elizabeth a spinster.  Both sign the register.  AND the date is 22 June!

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
