Petty/Ardersier Death/Burial Records
« on: Sunday 10 October 21 16:18 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know why there are few death/burial records for Petty & none for Ardersier on SP pre 1855?
Does it mean burials didn't occur there at that date or that the records haven't survived?

Very few parishes have death records pre 1855, you can check which BMD records are on SP if you look in the Help & Guidance section.

Petty deaths 1820 – 1853 &  Ardersier 0

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

It probably means that no records were even kept, let alone survived.

You might find that the Kirk Session records include information about payments for the use of the mortcloth, which is the closest you are going to get to death or burial records before 1855.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
